Our Mission

The mission of First Trinity Evangelical-Lutheran Church is

  • To proclaim the Gospel of Christ to the people of Pittsburgh in accord with the Great Commission.
  • To preach and teach the true Word of God and administer the sacraments that all who hear it and receive them may live and grow in faith in Jesus Christ.
  • To act in faith with love and mercy toward others, especially members of First Trinity parish and those in the Pittsburgh area, as Jesus Christ would have us do.

This is the Mission Statement of First Trinity as adopted by the congregation. The elements of the Mission Statement are based squarely on the Word of God: the first element refers, of course, to the Great Commission; the second element speaks of the faith-building Means of God’s Grace, through which we, by the power of the Holy Spirit, learn of God’s love for us and find forgiveness of our sins; and the third element recognizes that, as Christians, we are to love others as Christ loves us.
