First Trinity Homeless Ministry (FTHM)
“With a mighty hand and outstretched arm, His love endures forever.” -Psalm 136:2
FTHM expresses Jesus’ love by providing meals, conversation, prayers and invitations to people experiencing homelessness and marginal housing in the Oakland Area. FTHM also shares the Church’s heart by inviting outside volunteers to see what we are about.
Every Sunday, between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm, volunteers go out into the streets to meet people, bringing packed lunches and open hearts. To volunteer please signup through Pittsburgh Cares.
Every first Saturday, between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, volunteers distribute toiletries, clothing and other essential supplies in kind donation from the church to those in need. To volunteer please signup through Pittsburgh Cares.
What FTHM clients say:
“Your lunches are a God send.”
“I told you they know me by name.”
“I know you do everything you can.”
“Thank you for praying for me.”
“I had only seen Jenny once before, in the winter. We gave her new socks, blankets and meals for her and her friend staying in Highland Park. And now in the heat of the summer, this petite woman was running down the sidewalk with arms open to greet us. Moment like these remind us that the work God has given is really means something.”
“‘Can I speak with you?’ Phil pulled me aside, ‘Diana, I know you are leaving, but will keep praying for me, won’ t you?’ I assured him I would. ”Cause you know that if I could I would go where you go, and be where ever you were. How are these new people going to be? Ya think they will care as much? Talk to me not as if homeless is who I am…?”
Christ uses all types of unique people to share His love. Please prayerfully consider being involved with FTHM.
